Help
Quick answers to the questions students ask most.
The basics
What is a regra?
A regra is your lecture, taught to you from scratch — nothing skipped. Upload your slides; the AI explains the whole lecture step by step, connected to real life, with flashcards, quizzes, and an AI you can ask anything.
Does it work for what I study?
Yes — any subject, any level. Sciences, engineering, medicine, law, business, humanities: if your lectures have slides, it works.
Which languages?
34 — English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Turkish, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Chinese, and 24 more. And not just the menus: the teaching itself. Upload slides in one language, get taught in the one you think in.
Can the AI make mistakes?
Like any AI, it can — so a regra is built to make mistakes easy to catch and free to fix: your original slides always sit one click away for checking, your first 3 regenerations are free, and Reggie will double-check any line you doubt.
Is there a mobile app?
A mobile app is on the way. Until then, there's nothing to install: Regra works in your phone's browser. Open regra.ai, sign in, and everything is there — including recording a lecture live.
Uploading
What files can I upload?
Documents and recordings. Documents: PDF, PowerPoint or Word. Recordings: audio files like MP3 — or record the lecture right in the app. A YouTube link works too. One file per lecture.
How long or how big can a file be?
Slides and documents: up to 60 pages and 20 MB, and about 5,000 words. No minimum page count — a one-page handout is fine as long as it has at least 30 words. Recordings: 5 to 120 minutes — audio up to 250 MB, video up to 500 MB. The limits are the same on every plan. Got something longer? Split it, and upload each part as its own lecture.
Why was my file refused?
The message on your screen gives the exact reason. The usual ones:
- It's over the page, size or length limit. Split it into smaller parts, one lecture each.
- It isn't a type we read. Use PDF, PowerPoint or Word — photos aren't accepted.
- It has under 30 words of text — for example, slides that are almost only pictures.
- The PDF is locked or damaged. Save it again as a new PDF and upload that.
- The recording is under 5 minutes, or we couldn't hear any speech in it.
- Your storage is full. Delete an old lecture to free up space.
A refused file never costs a lecture credit.
Can I record a lecture live, and for how long?
Yes. Choose Live recording when you add a lecture and record straight from your browser, on a laptop or a phone — from 5 minutes up to 120. Your audio is saved as you go. If your connection drops or the tab closes, come back within a few hours and you can carry on, or make the regra from what was saved.
Your regra
How long does it take?
Just a few minutes. Upload your slides, and your regra is ready shortly after. You'll see it build as it goes.
My regra failed or got stuck. Did I lose a credit?
No. A regra that fails never costs a lecture credit — if one was taken, it comes back on its own. Press Try again; trying again is free. If it looks stuck, give it up to an hour: we catch stuck regras ourselves and return the credit. If it fails twice, the problem is ours, not your file — write to us through Contact us and we'll sort it out. Changed your mind? You can cancel for free while we're still reading your file — the Cancel button tells you whether a credit is used before you confirm. Once the AI has started writing, cancelling uses the credit.
Something in my regra is wrong. How do I fix it?
You have three ways. Check the line against your original slides — they're one click away. Ask Reggie to double-check it. Or fix it yourself: press Edit and change the text — you can always go back to the AI's original. If the whole regra misses the mark, regenerate it: your first 3 regenerations for each lecture are free, then each one uses a lecture credit. Regenerating replaces the current version, including your edits.
Can I get it in another language after it's made?
Yes. Press Regenerate and pick a new output language — any of the 34. It counts as one of your 3 free regenerations, and it replaces the current version.
Can I download or print it?
Yes. Open your regra or your Notes and choose Export PDF — then print it or keep it for offline. It's included on every plan; Plus and Pro can also add their own header and footer. You can download the original file you uploaded at any time, too.
Credits & plans
What do I get free?
Every feature, free, on 2 full lectures — enough to see a real regra of your own before paying anything.
Your free lecture credits come back every month, along with 20 Reggie questions and 128 flashcard and quiz questions.
What is a lecture credit, and what happens when I run out?
One lecture credit turns one upload into a full lecture: the Regra, the Notes, and 3 free regenerations. A recording over 60 minutes uses 2. Credits refill every month — on the day of the month you signed up, or on your billing date if you're on a paid plan. You'll find the exact date under Usage in your profile menu. Unused credits don't carry over. When you run out, everything you've made stays open to study; you just can't start a new lecture until the refill — unless you upgrade, or earn credits by inviting friends.
How do I earn credits by inviting friends?
Open Invite friends in your profile menu and share your link. When a friend signs up and creates their first lecture, you both get 1 lecture credit. You can earn up to 10 in total. Earned credits never expire, and they're only used after your monthly ones run out.
How does the free trial work, and when am I charged?
Plus comes with a 7-day free trial. You enter your card to start, and nothing is charged that day. Before you confirm, we show you the exact amount and the exact date of your first charge — the day the trial ends — and we email you a reminder 3 days and 1 day before. Cancel in Settings any time before that date and you pay nothing: you keep Plus until the trial ends, then move to Free. The trial is once per person and once per card, and only if you've never paid for a plan.
How do I cancel, and what happens to my lectures?
Go to Settings, then Billing, then Cancel subscription. You keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for, then move to Free — nothing more is charged, and you can resume any time before that date. Your lectures stay yours to read and download. Free accounts hold 100 MB, so if you're above that, you can't upload anything new until you're under it.
What if I subscribe and regret it?
Cancel anytime in the app. You keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for.
My payment failed. What now?
Nothing is lost. Your account moves to the Free plan until the payment goes through, and your lectures stay exactly as they are. To fix it, go to Settings, then Billing, then Update payment method. Paddle, our payment provider, also emails you a link to update your card. As soon as the payment succeeds, your plan comes back on its own.
Why does my bank statement say "Paddle"?
Paddle is our payment provider. It sells Regra on our behalf and handles the cards, so we never see your card details. That's why the charge appears as PADDLE* REGRA on your statement, and why your receipts come from Paddle.
Privacy & account
Who can see my slides? Is AI trained on them?
Only you. Your uploads and every regra made from them are private to your account. We never use them to train AI, and the AI providers we work with aren't allowed to either.
How do I delete a lecture or my whole account?
A lecture: choose Delete lecture on it. Its files and everything made from them — the regra, Notes, flashcards, quizzes and chats with Reggie — are permanently deleted. Your whole account: go to Settings, then Danger zone, then Delete account. It happens immediately and can't be undone. If you're on a paid plan, cancel it first so you're not charged again. We delete everything except what the law makes us keep, such as payment records. Want a copy first? Settings has Download your data.
